Sketchbook assignments are drawing exercises to help the artist practice observing and drawing.
ALL Sketchbook Assignments are one week homework assignments. Spend one hour to 45 minutes per drawing session. 50 points for each assignment. Late work will have a penalty of 10 points. Use the entire page and make your drawing interesting and creative. Use your elements of art tool book and principles of design composition tips. Sketchbook #1 Draw a piece of furniture in your house. This can be in color or black and white. Sit in an area and observe the lines and shapes of the piece. Create a format around your observed area and look for textures, gradations, wood grain or interesting shapes and make a detailed study. Use the whole page. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Sketchbook #2 Design and draw a map of Santiago High School Campus. Draw out your route on an All Day schedule and what rooms you visit on campus. Add as many details and interesting points of interest. Think of a map you would create for someone looking for directions and need an illustrated map. This map can be from an actual map of the school or one from memory. Be creative! Spend 45min-1 hour on this sketchbook activity. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ SKETCH BOOK #3 Observation Drawing 4 ways Draw one object in 4 different ways or points of view. Split up your sketch paper up into 4 boxes and in each box draw a different view of the object. Use details and shading for each object drawing. Sketchbook #4 One Word Creative Response
