The Innovator's Process: Identify Goals--> Generate Ideas--> Design--> Create--> Test-->Evaluate-->Redesign-->Share 8/20-21 Alphabet Transformation: Experimenting with the Elements of art, following a set of directions.
Must Do's: Class Exercise (Sketch book) 1. Using a Ruler, Create a 1/2" border 2. Create 9 equal boxes 3. Draw one letter of the alphabet changing the direction of the letter each time in a different box. 4. Make sure the letter touches all sides of the box. 5. Use a variety of elements of art (at least 4 different ideas) to fill each box and letter. 6. Write a reflection on the back of your paper about these 3 categories: Craftsmanship- Were your pencil lines drawn well, neat and focused? Were the elements of art represent well in each of your boxes? Completion- Were all the completion requirements met and finished on time? Creativity: Was there an interesting variety of elements of art used to create a unique design? |
8/24-25: Comic Strip: Experimenting with the Principles of Design and Color Theory
Must Do's: Class Exercise (9 Frame Comic Strip Boxes)
1. Create a Story (beginning, middle and ending) and a character using basic shapes
2. Use all 9 Composition Tips from the handout in class
3. Use all 5 color theories from the notes in class, one color theory per frame.
4. Write a reflection on the back about these three categories:
Craftsmanship- Was your story and character clear and each principle of design well represented?
Completion- Were all the completion requirements met and finished on time?
Creativity: Were your story and character ideas interesting and original?

Read p. 8-11
What are 5 possible ways to use sketchbooks?
Look up these vocabulary words in the glossary and add them to a KIM (Keyword, Information, Memory Clue drawing) vocabulary worksheet.

Drawing Activity: Draw 3 blind contour line drawing of a water bottle. Look at the bottle and not at what you are drawing.

4. When were they alive? What historical events were going on around the time they were alive?
5. Why is this artwork important? What did they accomplish in their lifetime?
6. Describe 3 interesting facts about the artwork that you would want to share with a friend.
