FLower Elements Projects
1. Observational Drawing: •Begin with a line contour drawing of a flower and leaf •Touch/Run off at least 3 sides of the paper •Outline the flower and leaf shapes with a permanent sharpie and erase all pencil lines
2.Add 3 Repeating Shapes in pencil - Plan areas that are: 1. Dark value, 2. Light value, 3. Texture (stippling or cross-hatching)
-Repeat the shapes of the flower/leaves in a silhouetted or cast shadow behind the flower/leaves so that it overlaps and repeats the shapes at least three times. (Repetition, Unity)
3. Using the supplies available, color in the flower and leaves – they can be arbitrary colors – think about color schemes
4. Using the supplies available, shade in two of the repeating shapes
5. Add a texture to the third shape: stippling, cross-hatching
6. Erase all pencil lines

Optical Art Project Due 10/1-10/2
Do the elements of art really enhance our artwork?
We created an optical art illusion using space and value through linear perspective.
Draw a checkerboard room using the 3 components of linear perspective (Horizon line, Vanishing point and receding lines). Draw two cracks, one in the floor and ceiling of the room and use the value scale to show realism and depth in the cracks.

Powerful Word Value Project
In response to the anti-bullying campaign on campus, one word can hurt another, another word can heal and empower to stand up against bullying in school.
In class we watched videos about the importance of standing up and speak up against bullying.
Objective: I will create a powerful word paper sculpture and create an observational value drawing.
Vocab: core shadow, form shadow, highlight, cast shadow.
